| Ron: And, now with more music from his
latest album, New Lives for Old, here's Wayne Watson. |
| Wayne: The song, Roll On, is a kind
of upbeat, fun thing that I got in the mail from a publisher here in Nashville
and just real honestly, we needed a song that was up and fresh and happy
and a song of hope, and this song met that need and fit that mold just
real well and comes out as a real refreshing point on the first side of
this record. |

| Wayne: Faith is walking on the edge of all the light you have and taking one step more. A little boy that was scared to go to the barn to milk the cow early in the morning, and he carried a lantern and he said, "Daddy, I can't see the barn from here." He said, "Well, walk to the fence." And he could see the fence with the little light he had. And then he said, "Well, I can see the oak tree." And he said, "Well, go to the oak tree." He said, "Now I can see the gate at the barn." He said, "Well, go to the gate." And he said, "Now , Daddy, I can see the barn." He said, "Well, go to the barn." So, it's taking the light that you've got that God has revealed, even though the end of the story is not revealed to you, trusting that God has the end in control and going that far. So many times in my life when I was growing up, and still today, and probably this afternoon, I'll go, "God, I want to see the end of this thing. Show me the whole story, so that I'll be at peace about going through it," when my faith and my rest should come in knowing that the God of the universe has it in His hands. And, it's going to be all right, even if it's not what I think it should be, it's going to be all right....that's faith. |

Wayne: The song, Never Give Up, came directly from my pastor's sermon that I heard on a Sunday morning. And we were in church and we sat there and he preached and he gave an illustration of a speech that Winston Churchill made, and I'm not old enough to remember that, but he shared it with us and talked about being on the verge of war and they gave Churchill a tremendous introduction of about 20 minutes of what a fascinating man and great leader and great man he was, and he got up and said three words, "Never give up!" And, he said it three times and sat down and was seated to a standing ovation of about a half an hour. But just because of the fervor in his voice and the intensity of "just don't give up" and I wrote that down in our church bulletin that day ...."Never Give Up!"...and underlined it....and went home and wrote down these words.... |

| Wayne: When you're over-shadowed, when everything is tossing in on you, and there are times when my faith wavers and when I feel like, "good grief, they are all around me - there is no way out!" and there always is a way out - God is always providing a way. |
Ron: We'll continue this radio special, the Music and Ministry of Wayne Watson, in just a minute.
