New Lives for Old Radio Special
Produced by Ron Rumley
1982

Ron Rumley: Milk 'N Honey Records is proud to present a one-hour radio special, the Music and Ministry of Wayne Watson, featuring songs from his latest album, New Lives for Old.

Wayne: On this album there are songs that you're not going to get everything the first two or three times you listen to it. It's heavy lyrical material, things that you'll need to really ponder and maybe even go to the Word and research and apply to your own life. And, if you'll do that, it will mean much more to you than just listening casually. Sometimes you need to make comments to vast numbers of needs and I feel like maybe that's what this record will do.

Ron: We'll begin the music from Wayne's new album right after this.

We continue now with the Music and Ministry of Wayne Watson.

Wayne: New Lives for Old...The song is basically a story of a man who had gone through both sides just like we all have. He's a little older...he'd been beaten around a little more than we have, maybe some of us....he gave up all he had to stand out on the corner....new lives for old....warm hearts for cold.

New Lives for Old

II Corinthians 5:17

Wayne: I got a phone call from a girl the other day that just said, "I haven't been a Christian long .....about six months." She said, "That's it...that's the story...that's what happened to me." And those kind of things make you want to go out and make more records and share encouraging feelings with brothers and sisters in Christ.

Take All Of Me is the oldest song on this record that I have written. It's a prayer...a song that not so much begs but that just offers my own life and my soul and all that I am and all that I can be and all that I've got and all that I have ever dreamed I would be....take it all.

Take All of Me

Wayne: The heart of this ministry, for me, has been in the last few years realizing the Lord's return could be anyday like I've been taught for most of my life but the heart of it has been the drive that I may not have much time to do this. I don't know what heaven will be like...I know it's going to be wonderful...but I'm not going to be doing this...I won't have the opportunities to reach a hurting brother in Christ because there won't be any...I won't have the opportunity to reach a lost, confused teenager or young adult who's going through divorce or through a nasty separation or that kind of thing...I don't have much time for that. And, I never know when God might just take His hand totally away from this ministry. He may say, "Wayne, I want you to do this. I may want you to go work in a drug store somewhere or a bank. I want you to get out of this." And, if He does say that to me, I want to do it. So, that's what drives me...that's the heart of it...that's what makes me push on because I realize I don't know when God's going to say do something different. The guy that's listening tonight may not be here next year...he may not make it...he may not make it home....I may not make it home...the plane I'm going to be on may not make it. So, I just want to milk the minute and make it the best it can be.

People of God

I Peter 2: 9-10

Wayne: People of God is a song I wrote as a praise chorus....that it can be a positive confession that we are people of God....called by His name...called from the dark...delivered from shame...one holy race...saints everyone...for one reason...because of the blood of Christ.

Ron: We'll continue this radio special, the Music and Ministry of Wayne Watson, in just a minute.
